Newsletter #4

Hello from our CEO

Again it’s been an incredibly busy period; hiring and training up the team (we now have 25 full time staff (not including community moderators) as well as getting into a weekly release cycle for our CANApps. The team has released four CANApps (decentralised applications in the CanYa ecosystem) as well as full crypto integration in Bountysource.com. We have signed on additional partners, was listed on another exchange and have participated in conferences all around the world. We ran a hackathon, participated BlockEngine’s blockchain startups in Melbourne and donated our first tranche of CAN to our charity partners.

Our team is incredibly focused to build up a decentralised ecosystem for peer-peer services and we have a lot of exciting things on the horizon; with more CANApp releases, more partners and more contributions to the community. The CanYa team is very happy to be supported by our fantastic community, and will continue to boldly build and show the world how decentralised technologies will disrupt legacy business models and return value to users.

The CanYa Alpha:

On the 20th of April 2018 the CanYa Alpha was launched to the community! Anyone in the world can now find, book and pay for digital services with our 20 Pioneer providers.

The Pioneers were a group of 20 hand chosen, top quality digital service providers from all over the world. They are available to be booked for services and will help the development team build the best possible platform for the world of digital services.

You can watch how this YouTube creator got his channel’s graphics completely re-designed by using one of our awesome pioneers:

CanApps:

We want to create an entire suite of CanYa tools that can be used by our freelancers inside of the CanYa ecosystem. This will be achieved through our awesome CANApps. These apps are also designed to help newcomers navigate through the cryptocurrency space as one of CanYa’s goals is to help spread the meaningful adoption of cryptocurrency.

This month we launched the first four CANapps:

  • CANInvoice – A free, easy to use invoice creation tool for all CanYa users
  • CANStation – An easy to use tool to help people set the correct gas fees when interacting with the Ethereum network.
  • CANShare – (previously CANTransfer) – an amazing tool that uses IPFS to allow people to transfer large files (up to 100GB) across the internet free of charge!
  • CANTrack – Simple, effective, time management software that allows records to be kept immutably on the blockchain.

There are also many more exciting CANApps in the pipeline to be released over the coming months!

Bountysource by CanYa:

This month was also a massive milestone for Bountysource with the addition of crypto bounties and smart contract auditing to the platform! This is a massive space in today’s cryptocurrency market and Bountysource aims to leverage it’s 50,000 developer community and brand power to become the go-to place for crypto bounties and smart contract audits.

The Largest bounty in Bountysource History:

Education First has revived a three-year-old Mozilla bounty that has sat dormant on Bountysource.  The mammoth bounty immediately got traction in the community and as per writing this update developers are working around the clock on solutions.

This particular bug, the Mozilla Firefox WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communications) issue which relates to the lack of support for NTLM/Kerberos authentication in Firefox.  What this means in native English is that users are unable to capture & stream audio/visual media.

As progress continues we will update the community on both the solution and the process of the developers.  Bounties of this size are rare in the open-source community, and so naturally, they create intrigue when someone starts plotting a solution.

Given that we are huge supporters of an open-source future, we are very excited about the prospect of more large companies using services such as Bountysource to solve open-source software issues.  We will continue to update the community on the progress of one of the biggest open-source bounties in the world.

Community Updates:

Charity Winners

As outlined in the CanYaCoin Asset Contract, we will donate 10% of the unsold tokens from our ICO to a charity poolThe charity pool is intended to go towards charitable organisations, to support for-purpose projects in the Web3 space, and to contribute to education in software development to support the growth of the blockchain and Web3 projects.

The winner of the inaugural Charity Vote was AidCoin, coincidentally a project focused on making donations more transparent by linking the contribution to a blockchain.

The AidCoin solution is very important due to the social distrust with the allocation of charitable funds in recent times.  Charities have a tremendous role to play in the improvement of the most vulnerable, but it will only be a viable method if people can be assured that their money is getting to the places and causes it was intended to go.

We are delighted to help power the AIDChain platform as it aims to make the nonprofit sector more transparent.

Binance Dexathon:

This month CanYa also hosted a Dexathon with our good friends Type Human and Consensys to solve the Binance hackathon problem of creating a truly decentralised exchange. We had a great turn out amongst the Melbourne blockchain development community and some very impressive solutions were proposed and potentially some will be implemented!

The weekend refreshments were taken care of by the legends at Young Henry’s who kept everyone sane as they worked deep into the night all weekend.

CanYa Alpha launched to the community!

The day we have all been waiting for is here!

The CanYa Alpha web-app has arrived and we can’t wait for you to join and start freelancing in the the crypto gig economy!

The purpose of this blog is to provide you with some quick updates on the features and functionality of the ecosystem, as well as top tips on how to begin.

First things first; all users of the CanYa Marketplace will need 100 CAN Tokens in their MetaMask address to place and receive jobs.  CanYaCoin (CAN) is the native token of the CanYa marketplace, which means it is the currency that drives the CanYa economy.

How do I get CanYa tokens to set up my profile?

There are multiple ways you can acquire CAN tokens.

The most straightforward is through any of the exchanges listed on Canya.io, including, KuCoin, IDEX, and FatBTC.

You can also convert Ethereum or other popular cryptocurrencies directly to CAN through our partnerships with Bancor and Changelly.  Down the track, this will be incredibly important to how the marketplace functions, but right now it also plays an important role in removing a barrier to entry to the platform.

When you go to the CanYa.com landing page, you will be met with two options; to buy ETH or to buy CAN.  These shortcuts are powered by the following technology.

Ontwerp-zonder-titel-1-min.png

Bancor

Bancor is a trading network that lets users convert between tokens like an exchange. The decentralised, trust-less network allows you to convert between two tokens of your choice without any counter-party for continuous liquidity. What this means is that CAN token users can hold, receive, transfer, request, liquidate and purchase tokens.

Screen-Shot-2017-12-03-at-14.24.47

Changelly

Changelly is an instant digital currency exchange that allows users to exchange between cryptocurrencies, by plugging into major exchanges. Changelly also allows you to purchase cryptocurrency with your credit or debit card.

CanYa_uport_bug

Identity Registration for a Decentralised Marketplace

In order to achieve a truly decentralised marketplace, we need to protect our users and providers information from capture.  In order to do this, we are using uPort to protect your data and identity while also allowing users to exchange information privately.

Download uPort to your phone, and it will communicate with MetaMask to confirm your identification.  All of your profile information will be stored in uPort, not on CanYa, so this means data such as your photo must be uploaded onto uPort for it to show up in CanYa.

As per our previous update, uPort is cutting-edge technology and has cause some initial users issues. To avoid a bottleneck of users trying to login simultaneously we have built a more traditional login that taps into your existing available information. This is important as it allows more people to interact with the platform, but it should also be noted it is a short-term solution, as we push towards the marketplace being completely decentralised.

We are currently working on a native CanYa ID app that will cover all of the functionality of uPort and more!

Using The Marketplace

Screen Shot 2018-04-20 at 3.21.02 pm.png

When you log into the platform successfully you will be met with profiles from providers that have been hand-selected as part of our Pioneers and Ambassadors programs.

Opening these profiles will allow you to look at tasks completed, skill-sets, timezone, and other useful information to inform your decision to hire a provider.  If you decide you want to engage with a provider, you can post them a job request.

When you engage your selected provider you will then have a private communications channel to speak about the task in more detail, and in real-time.

Screen Shot 2018-04-20 at 3.29.36 pm

There is also the search function that enables you to look for specific providers, or providers based on a skill-set that you are seeking.

We also have a CanYa Chat Bot that will help you navigate the platform if anything is not immediately clear.

As this is the launch of our Alpha platform, your feedback is warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated you can provide feedback via the various links on the platform. We have created a forum for this feedback which can be reached here: http://forum.canya.io

We are incredibly excited to welcome you to the CanYa platform, as together, we build the decentralised future of work!

Known issues

As this is the Alpha version of the CanYa platform there are a number of things that the team are currently working to improve. These are:

  • Log in issues involving the uPort technology
  • Search function can return erroneous data
  • User Experience issues
  • User Interface issues
  • User Account Management issues

The dev team are working hard to improve these issues and they can be improved even further with your feedback!

CanYa Apps

We are incredibly excited about our CanYa Apps and we will detail each CanYa App more thoroughly in the coming weeks. The aim is for CanYa to offer the full suite of services that any freelancer in today’s world could need. This creates a greater value proposition for the CanYa ecosystem and token while generating longer and more frequent engagement for our users. They will also serve as a marketing funnel to introduce external users to CanYa after using our awesome apps. At this stage we are aiming to release a new CanYa App every month!

Here are the CanYa Apps that are ready and will be released in the coming weeks post the Alpha going live:

CANInvoice

An easily manipulated invoice template for all of our freelancers to provide clean, professional and accurate invoices for their work.

CanYa25

A very exciting decentralised ‘kickstarter’ program for future CanYa freelancers. Do you have great ideas but you’re not sure it will work? Maybe you live in a country with no access to traditional finances to start your new online business? Here’s where CanYa 25 comes in!

Budding freelancers can pitch their ideas and the CanYa community can donate $CAN to their cause. The $CAN is held in escrow until it reaches 25,000 CAN. Once this occurs the $CAN is sent to the freelancer to be used to start their very own business on the CanYa platform.

CanYa_hero_Can25

This program has huge potential and is inline with the ethos of CanYa being the world’s truly global services platform. CanYa will empower freelancers from everywhere in the world that were traditionally excluded from exisiting platforms due to access to traditional finance institutions. CanYa 25 is an extension of this sentiment.

Future technology roadmap

The future vision for CanYa is monumental. Here is what the current roadmap looks like:

Combined

Conclusion

The CanYa vision is vast and incredibly exciting. We are at the ground level and we cannot wait to build the future with our community. Please use the platform, create a profile and provide feedback.

We are proud to be able to launch a global Alpha only three and a half months after finishing our ICO but there is a lot more to come! This is an exciting time for the CanYa platform and the $CAN token. We also have exciting news regarding Bountysource powered by CanYa that we will share very soon.

Newsletter #3

Hello from our CEO

“We are now well and truly into 2018 – the year that blockchain teams need to deliver a product to their users. Firstly because they promised their token-holders they would do that, and secondly because collectively we need to “cross the chasm” and accelerate the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies.

At CanYa we are laser-focused on product delivery and we are very close to releasing our Alpha CanYa web-app on main-net. The CanYa dev team, led by our superstar CTO, Juan, have built an incredibly innovative platform that pulls together cutting edge technology in a brilliant way.

We strongly believe we have the most advanced decentralised applications ever built – already. We will continue to work on this in order to realise our vision. The team are also building a host of free online tools that we will release to the wider community to drive value to our ecosystem, as well as the wider crypto ecosystem.”

HODL club has had its first successful Airdrop!

newsletter3_hodl

355,000 CAN tokens have been sent to our most loyal supporters; the CanYa HODLers.

The aim of the CanYa HODL club is to get as many long-term believers of the CanYaCoin Token together in an exclusive group while also rewarding them for their loyalty with air-dropped tokens from CanYa and our partners.

There are two tiers to the HODL club:

HODL OGs:

These are our awesome original members from the ICO and people that have entered post ICO with 10,000 CAN or more. They will be randomly air-dropped the 2 million CAN tokens over 6 months.

Anyone entering the OG HODL tier post ICO will have to wait 45 days before being an approved member. This is our ‘proof of HODL test‘. You will not be eligible for any air-drops or perks from the HODL club while waiting to be approved. If you are eligible you can register for the club via the HODL website (https://hodl.canya.com/)

HODL OG for CanYaCoin long term HODLers

HODL Tier 2

Tier 2 HODLers can enter the HODL club with 2,500 CAN or more. They will be air-dropped 500k CAN tokens over 6 months at random intervals.

To enter Tier 2 you will need 2,500 CAN tokens or more. Once you have 2,500 CAN tokens you can apply via the website (https://hodl.canya.com/). You will then need to wait 45 days to prove you are a true HODLer before you are entered into the club.

Notes:

  • Specifics of the CanYa HODL Club can be found at this blog.

We are now listed on Lykke, Gatecoin and Coinspot!

On the back of a terrific few weeks of announcements, the number of exchanges that now list our token is increasing rapidly.  Exposure to prominent exchanges is a critical part of a tokens development and trading volume. This is why we are very excited to announce that we are now listed on Lykke, Gatecoin and Australia’s own Coinspot!

Artboard 3@2x.png

This is a tremendous result for CanYa, and highlights the amount of work that our executive team is doing behind the scenes to drive the platform forward.  Many would not realise that the process of being added to an exchange can be quite arduous, and with good reason.  In order to ensure the integrity of the exchanges, tokens must be vetted in fine-detail to ensure that they meet the standards expected in metrics such as KYC and company structure.

CanYa, of course, is compliant with the standards of every exchange in the world.  However, this does not take-away from the due-diligence and work required to broker these arrangements.

Needless to say, we are chuffed with the progress and hope to announce more exchange partnerships in the coming weeks and months.

Asia-Pacific Meeting

CanYa was also represented by JP Asia-Pacific Ethereum Meet-up which took place in Thailand. The trip itself was a whirlwind; both of the ideas presented and the compressed schedule. However, it was incredibly beneficial gathering, where CanYa was able to share our progress and hear ideas with the inner circle of Ethereum.

newsletter3_thailand.png
The keynote speech was of course done by Vitalik, and he spoke about how some of the crypto-economic ideas used to build blockchains, could also be applied to make the internet “less broken.”

Also present were:

  • Managing Director of OmiseGo Vansa Chatikavanij
  • OMG Plasma Researcher David Knott
  • Head of Research at AlphaShisen Luo
  • Core Developer of MakerDAO, Niklas Kungel; and,
  • a host of other blockchain luminaries.

The meet-up was designed to promote technology exchange between Ethereum developers and community members, as well as an opportunity to get to know more about local Ethereum-based projects.

This was a great opportunity to hear about the progress of other projects in our corner of the world, but also a great platform for CanYa to update the community on the great strides we are making; specifically with the purchase of BountysourceuPort secure sign-in’s, the CanYa bot, and our platform search engine.

BountySource Update

After two months of hard work the CanYa team were happy to announce that Bountysource has been completely refreshed as step 1 of the exciting roadmap ahead.  Along with the UI/UX refresh, a number of fundamental behind the scenes issues have been improved and introduced to truly reclaim the crown as the biggest and best source for posting and completing coding bounties!

newsletter3_bountysource.png.png

The core functionality of the platform has remained the same.  However, huge efforts have been made to improve the user experience of the website by doing the following:

  1. Actively clearing the cash-out backlog, the majority of customers will now have their cash-outs
  2. Future PayPal cashouts should be processed within 48hrs
  3. Existing support tickets cleared and a commitment in place to answer future tickets within 1 business day
  4. 5 full time developers put on the team to reinvigorate platform and start executing new road map.
  5. New & modern UI/UX

With clients such as IBM, Facebook and Ripple already using the platform, Bountysource has huge industry backing and immense potential.  Moving forward, it is hoped that the changes made both re-engage the 48,000 registered users as well as offering more flexibility to complete bounties for companies and programmers alike.

You can follow the progress of our updates in real-time on the Bountysource github:  https://github.com/bountysource/core/issues.

So what’s next for Bountysource?

The CanYa team have huge plans ahead for Bountysource. Phase 1 is now complete and the team are now well and truly working in Phase 2. Our crypto portal is also underway which we are particularly excited about!

Phase 1:

  • Stand up dev & customer support team
  • Fix outstanding critical bugs and support ticket backlog
  • Refresh the platform UI/UX

Phase 2:

  • Fix remaining issues
  • Begin design and foundation work on cryptocurrency portal (Crypto bounties and smart contracting audits etc)
  • Integrate $CAN as a payment option
  • ‘Bountysource teams’ integration (collaborative bounty hunters)
  • Personalised profiles that can be cross ported to CanYa

Phase 3 & beyond:

  • Release crypto portal – crypto project bounties, smart contract auditing and much more (powered by the $CAN token) – Huge opportunity!
  • ‘Bountysource hire’ – ability to hire developers for short term contracts (ideal for development sprints)
  • Security bounties added

CanYa and CanYaCoin powering the platform that lets your work remotely like a digital nomad

Final words on the Bountysource Reskin

Bountysource has an incredibly strong brand name throughout the open source and development community. This identity and vision allowed it to grow the user-base to 48,000 passionate developers. CanYa is pushing this vision forward and adding a suite of new features to grow the platform’s use case into the future.

The move into crypto based bounties and audits is particularly exciting. This will make Bountysource a true cornerstone of the blockchain & ICO development process. This side of Bountysource will also be powered by the $CAN token to further its use case, real world application and volume. These are exciting times for Bountysource and CanYa and we are looking forward to having you all along for the journey!

CAN ICO Audit Complete

CanYaCoin Audit

The CanYaCoin ICO audit required a 100% check of all contributions to the CAN ICO. This has been a very time consuming process and has required patience from both the CanYa Team and the CanYa Community.

CanYa_Featured-Images-Audit

The audit has revealed a lot of transactions from exchange wallets that would likely have lead to participants losing their CAN tokens forever. This is why we decided on a ‘post-ICO distribution’ rather than an ‘automatic smart contract’.

Other common issues have been identified and these participates have received requests for further information from the CanYa Support email channel (support@canya.io).

CAN Token Distribution

Now that the audit has come to a conclusion CAN tokens have begun to be distributed via the CanYaCoin Token Distribution schedule. This process was automated and will occur as the Ethereum network allows.

CanYa_Featured-Images-Airdrop-Distribution

Native Support

The CanYa Team has organised support from many common platforms that will mean automatic native support of the CAN token. The following platforms will not require the user to manually add the CAN token:

  • MyEtherWallet (you will need to click on ‘CAN’ in the token list but after this it will always remain visible)
  • MetaMask
  • Trust
  • ImToken
  • Coinomi
  • Parity

Manual Addition

The recommended platforms for contributing to the CAN ICO were the ones listed above; these all have native support. Other platforms were used to contribute to the CAN ICO and it will be up to the individual to seek guidance on how to add the CanYaCoin to this platform.

The CanYaCoin token details can be found by searching “CanYaCoin” at EtherScan.io (https://etherscan.io/token/0x1d462414fe14cf489c7a21cac78509f4bf8cd7c0).

Unsupported Platforms

If you have used a wallet like Jaxx or Exodus, the process to actually move your CAN tokens will be more complex. Because CanYa doesn’t yet have native support on these platforms (and you cannot manually add tokens) you will only be able to see your CAN by searching for your ETH wallet address at etherscan.io and looking in the ‘Token Transfers‘.

If you want to move your CAN (or any other ERC20 token that doesn’t have native support) you will need to export your private keys to another platform that allows manual addition of tokens (see the list above for examples). There are many guides online that will step you through this process.

Exchange Listing

Now that the CAN tokens have been distributed we will be able to announce the exchanges that will list CanYaCoin. The exchanges will first be announced on our Telegram channels (CanYa Community + CanYa Announcements) and then across our social channels. To be the first to find out where the CAN tokens will be listed, join our Telegram channels.

CAN tokens will be live on 2 exchanges as early as 11pm (AEDT) on the 08 Jan 18. There will be more to follow.

CanYa-Featured-Image--Live-for-trading

HODL Club

The CanYa HODL Club has received a lot of interest, from both the CanYa Community and the wider cryptocommunity, and we are proud to be leading the way in eliminating the post-ICO Pump & Dump effect.

CanYa HODL Club for the CAN ICO of over 5000CAN

The intention of the CanYa HODL Club is simply to HODL your CAN (for more details, read the CanYa HODL Club blog). If you have want to transfer your CAN to a more secure and longterm solution (like a Ledger hardware wallet) please follow this procedure:

  1. Transfer ALL of your CAN tokens to your longterm HODL solution.
  2. Email support@canya.io with details of your old ETH wallet, new ETH wallet and your TX ID.

Due to the rise in price of ETH and the HODL club numbers being calculated prior to this we will be changing how the HODL club will work. Expect a comprehensive blog to follow shortly.

Further Support

If you have not received your CAN by the 08 January 2018, please email support@canya.io with your ETH address and we will provide further clarification. Some CAN contributions have been placed on ‘Hold’ as they have been flagged for compliance, KYC or transaction issues.
